Samsung’s Tri-Fold Phone: The Future of Foldable Tech?

Samsung’s new Galaxy Z TriFold takes the foldable phone trend a giant step further. Whilst not currently available in the UK, this experimental device has made its way across Asia, and will debut in the US early 2026, leaving many fans hoping that the tri-fold phone will come to Europe soon after.

If you’ve ever wanted a phone that expands into a small tablet, whether for on-the-go TV viewing or for playing your favourite mobile games, the Galaxy Z TriFold is one to have on your radar. It’s especially appealing for people who work on the move, travel often, or simply feel limited by standard smartphone screens.

What is the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold?

This phone literally folds in twice, unfolding into a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, making it essentially a mini tablet in your pocket. It’s still got the flagship specs (Snapdragon 8 Elite Chip, 16GB RAM, a 200MP camera) and the largest battery ever in a Galaxy foldable.

If you like to use your phone for productivity, the TriFold is built for you. With the ability to run three apps at once, you could be viewing a document in one, taking notes in a second app, and video conference in a third. The phone even lets you answer calls without rearranging your workspace.

Fold it out and the TriFold also becomes great for cinematic entertainment. The 10-inch AMOLED is vivid and bright, so it stays viewable outdoors, with a wide 4:3 aspect ratio for movies and streaming.

Samsung’s software even optimises video: for example, you can watch a movie or YouTube clip on one panel while reading comments on another, side-by-side. Whether you’re binge-watching Netflix or gaming on the go, the TriFold delivers an almost tablet-like experience in a pocketable device.

What are the features of the Galaxy Z TriFold?

Here are some of the key TriFold Highlights:

  • Tri-Fold Design: Unfolds twice into a 10-inch tablet-like screen, then folds inward twice for ultimate slimness (about 3.9mm at its thinnest point).
  • Advanced Hinges: Uses Samsung’s refined Armor FlexHinge System, so the three panels fold smoothly and meet with almost no gap.
  • Massive Battery: A 5,600 mAh three-cell battery (spread across all panels) powers the large screen. With 45W super-fast charging, you can juice up to 50% in about 30 minutes.
  • Multitasking: The huge display works like having three phones side by side. You can run three portrait apps at once without interruption and resize the windows as you go. Think of it like a PC setup when you hook up an external monitor.

Overall, the Galaxy Z TriFold is designed to save you time and hassle, giving you more screen space when you need it and a compact phone when you don’t, whether you’re juggling work, streaming on the go, or replacing multiple devices with just one.

When is the Galaxy Z TriFold being released?

As next-generation foldable phones continue to evolve, Samsung’s TriFold design offers a glimpse at where premium smartphones are heading.

Samsung launched the TriFold in South Korea in December 2025, with rollout soon in China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the US in early 2026. So far, there’s no UK or EU release date announced.

If and when it does arrive in the UK, it’s likely to be one of the more expensive smartphones on the market, predicted to cost between £2,000 and £2,250 based on price conversions.

All this buzz makes the TriFold a smartphone upgrade many tech fans are watching, and if you’re considering it, trading in your current phone can help bridge the cost. While UK buyers may have to wait a little longer, now is a good time to prepare if you’re planning an upgrade.

Turning in an older phone can easily knock hundreds off the cost or cover accessories like a case or earbuds. Plus, trading in responsibly recycles old electronics.
