Galaxy Z Flip7: Is the Flip Phone Making a Comeback?

Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Flip7, launched in July 2025, is the latest in its pocketable flip range. Building on the Flip6, it brings a bigger cover display, slimmer design, improved durability, and smarter AI-powered software.

But beyond the upgrades, the big question is: are flip phones really making a comeback?

In this post, we’ll look at what makes the Z Flip7 stand out, why foldables are finding their place in the market, and why now could be the right time to trade in your old device with Mazuma Mobile.

Introducing the Galaxy Z Flip7

If your old Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phone is in need of a bigger screen with more capabilities, it might be time to sell.

Samsung’s Flip series has always balanced nostalgia with innovation. The headline upgrade this year is the larger 4.1-inch FlexWindow cover display – the biggest yet. Messaging, notifications, widgets, and even Google Gemini responses are now accessible without opening the phone.

The main screen has also grown to 6.9 inches (up from 6.7″ on the Flip6), offering a more immersive experience for gaming, streaming, or multitasking. Thanks to Samsung’s improved Ultra-Thin Glass, the crease is barely noticeable, giving a smooth, premium feel.

In short: the Flip7 makes quick one-handed tasks easier, while doubling up as a mini tablet when fully opened.

Sleeker, Stronger, Smarter

Samsung has also made the Flip7 thinner and lighter than the last model, while making it tougher too.

Improvement  What’s New
Hinge  Slimmer yet more durable
Materials  Reinforced glass + aluminium for a sturdier feel
Water resistance  Better splash protection
Battery  4,300 mAh – lasting a full day with ease
Performance  Exynos 2500 chip + 12GB RAM (on par with Galaxy S25)

The result is a phone that feels premium, powerful, and built to last.

Smarter Software and AI

The Flip7 runs Android 16 with Samsung’s One UI 8 and Galaxy AI. Standout features include:

  • Google Gemini built into the cover screen for instant answers
  • Advanced widgets for messages, socials, and camera previews – even in half-open FlexMode
  • Samsung’s 7-year software update promise, keeping the phone secure and futureproof

While the cameras haven’t changed much in hardware, AI-driven enhancements make photos sharper, brighter, and more versatile.

Pricing

Of course, all these impressive new features and design improvements come at a cost. The Galaxy Flip7 starts at £1,049, with a cheaper “Fan Edition” (FE) at £849. The regular Flip7 comes in three colourways; blue shadow, jet black, mint, or coral red, and the FE is available in black or white.

The Flip7 is in the same ballpark as high-end foldables – but is the cost worth it? On one side, you’re getting cutting-edge foldable tech with the large cover screen, super-slim hinge, and long update support. For someone who loves the flip form factor, this price may well be justified.

Should You Upgrade?

The Z Flip7 is ideal if you:

  • Already enjoy flip phones and want bigger screens, better battery, and a stronger hinge
  • Are curious about Samsung’s latest AI features
  • Want a phone that will remain up-to-date for many years

If you own an older Flip (Flip3, Flip4, Flip5, or Flip6), the difference will be instantly noticeable. And if your current phone is simply showing its age, this could be the best time to upgrade.
