The latest addition to the Xperia range is being launched by Sony, with a new flagship smartphone. The XZ3 will feature a sleek, modern design and be capable of high quality TV, audio, imaging and gaming.
It promises to deliver sharper clarity by including award-winning BRAVIA OLED TV technologies. This will translate into more vibrant colours, deeper blacks and higher contrast for optimum viewing of content.
Even online content will be improved, as the device will be capable of up-converting SDR to near HDR (High Definition Range) for high quality playback. This means better contrast functionality, a wider gamut of colour and higher resolution images.
Hideyuki Furumi, executive deputy president and head of sales marketing and Sony Mobile Communications, spoke about the launch. He said: “Our new XZ3 flagship smartphone is not just beautiful to look at, but it’s packed with Sony’s cutting-edge audio and visual technologies, letting you enjoy high quality content just as the creators intended, for a truly immersive entertainment experience in the palm of your hand.”
When it comes to audio, there will be 20 per cent more loudness than on the last Xperia model, provided by S-Force Front Surround Sound speakers. Music fans will be able to enjoy tunes in Hi-Res Audio, while DSEE HX means even compressed music will reach near to this standard too. Add in the LDAC wireless listening for an even better experience.
Music, movies and games will all benefit from the innovative Dynamic Vibration System, offering users a powerful haptic experience. Being able to feel the action in this way is something not seen before and helps to set the new Xperia XZ3 apart from its competitors.
Design lovers will be impressed by the borderless module, with its 3D glass screen blending into the body of the device. The near bezel-less body and 18:9 screen enhance the XZ3, which is comfortable to use, as it fits perfectly into the hand.
Despite having such a slim aluminium metal frame – 3mm – the phone is durable. This comes from Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and IP65/IP68 water resistance, giving the user peace of mind. Customers can choose from black, white silver, forest green or Bordeaux red for their handset.
Access to the user’s most popular apps is easier than ever, as the XZ3 is equipped with the Side interface, which uses AI to improve functionality. The need to scroll will be greatly reduced by simply double-tapping on the side of the device for the most often used apps to appear. This means the phone can easily be operated with just one hand.
Smart launch means that by simply holding the phone in landscape mode the 19MP camera will prepare itself for use. Once the picture is being taken, Superior Auto, Predictive Capture, Predictive Autofocus and Smile shutter will mean it’s the best shot possible. A 13MP camera is also fitted, offering the chance to capture selfies.
