Following the announcement in February 2017 that Nokia was making its return to the smartphone market, HMD Global has confirmed pricing and release dates for the brand’s new Android phones in the UK.
The range comprises three handsets: the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6.
HMD Global, which develops and markets smartphones under the Nokia brand name, confirmed that the Nokia 3 will be the first to be launched in the UK. It will arrive in stores on July 12th 2017 with a price tag of £119.99.
The baby of the family, the Nokia 3 has a five-inch, 1280x720px display and provides 2GB RAM and storage space of 16GB. It also features an eight-megapixel front and rear camera.
Following a few weeks later will be the top-end Nokia 6, which UK consumers will be able to purchase from August 2nd 2017 for £219.99.
The 5.5-inch phone comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB of storage, a 16-megapixel rear camera and an eight-megapixel front camera.
Completing the line-up is the mid-range Nokia 5, whose features include a 13-megapixel rear camera and eight-megapixel front camera, 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. This handset will be available from August 16th 2017 for £179.99.
When it announced Nokia’s new range of Android smartphones earlier this year, HMD Global said its goal was to set “a new standard in design, quality and user experience”.
Juho Sarvikas, the firm’s chief product officer, said: “Nokia phones stir real emotions; people know them for their beautiful design and craftsmanship, together with a built-to-last quality that you can rely on. Our new portfolio combines these classic Nokia hallmarks with a best-in-class Android performance and a new level of craftsmanship.”
HMD Global also unveiled an updated version of the classic Nokia 3310, with features including 22-hour talk-time and month-long standby.
