People may be tempted to trade in mobile phones after hearing that Vodafone is to launch the first handset with the Android 2.3 operating system.

The Google Nexus S was released at the end of last year but was only available through certain stockists, Techradar reports.

Now, however, the device can be bought through one of the UK's largest networks, although a date for release and a price have yet to be confirmed.

Those keen to have the model for their own will find it comes "crammed full of next-gen tech", such as a Super AMOLED curved four-inch screen.

The news source went on to note that it is likely the mobile phone will not be the most expensive in Vodafone's range and could be available at £30 a month on a two-year contract.

However, Three's Sony Ericsson Arc might prove to be of interest to consumers as well and will be stocked with the network from April.
