Virgin Media has announced the release of a new football app especially for people who follow the sport from the comfort of their living room.
The news could be especially good for mobile phone users with one of the latest models to take advantage of the technology.
Sofa Stadium allows consumers to track matches, rate players and cheer or jeer with other supporters while games are in play.
It got underway on Saturday (August 14th) and the Premier League made its long-awaited comeback after the summer break.
“Sofa Stadium is the perfect place for armchair supporters, commentators and managers alike to get actively involved in football and a brilliant way to bring together the multi-screen entertainment experience,” says Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at the company.
Some people with older phones may find recycling their handsets and investing in a newer device is the best way to enjoy the online feature.
Among the matches to be covered on the season’s opening day were Blackpool’s 4-0 win against Wigan and Chelsea’s 6-0 rout of West Bromwich Albion.
