People are being given the chance to recycle their old mobile phones during an environmental initiative taking place all this week.

Recycle Week began on June 21st and runs until June 27th, with the aim being to encourage homeowners to become more aware of the green benefits that come with sending away old products to be reused.

Figures from consumer advice group Which? indicate UK households throw away enough electrical goods – including mobile phones – to fill Wembley Stadium six times over and the body has introduced an online tool that helps to show people how to recycle their old mobile phone.

“Recycling isn’t always as easy as it should be, but this week is Recycle Week and there are lots of tools to help your recycling,” it stated.

Recycle Now backs the week-long initiative and has urged homeowners to have a clear out of items that are “a bit past their prime”.
