Consumers who trade in mobile phones over the coming weeks and months and upgrade to a model from Orange or T-Mobile will find they can enjoy an updated television service.

Everything Everywhere – the result of the merger between the two networks – has confirmed it has appointed Red Bee Media to oversee the next stage of development.

The number of devices that are compatible with the television offering is set to surge, while some tablets will even be able to access it.

Paul Jevons, director of products at the company, said: "The new delivery platform is just the start and we have several significant developments planned for our service over the next 12 months which will really transform the way consumers view mobile TV."

Everything Everywhere is anticipating a six-fold hike in the total number of subscribers to the service over the next three years.

T-Mobile this week announced it is to offer a range of top smartphones to business users on 12-month contracts.
