Those who trade in a mobile in order to enjoy access to a popular Debenhams app now have a greater choice when it comes to choosing their new handset.

Mobile commerce firm NN4M has launched the tool – which shot to fame as an accessory for Apple iPhone users – on the Android and Nokia portals.

It means consumers can now switch to a device that runs on any of the three operating systems in order to shop at the department store via their mobile.

Harriet Williams, head of digital development at the retailer, said: "We're confident that the Android and Nokia apps will provide each of our customers with an excellent shopping experience regardless of their mobile handset and ultimately deliver great results for us."

Debenhams is the first store to offer an app that runs on iPhone, Android and Nokia platforms.

Dr Windsor Holden, author of the Juniper Research Blog, recently said mobile apps are here to stay and have proved all doubters wrong.
