People with an old mobile phone may wish to sell it and use the cash towards a new smartphone, with all the latest technology.

Google has announced via its Mobile Blog it is now offering owners of state-of-the-art devices extra information on the apps that are available to them via its homepage.

This means those with an Apple iPhone, BlackBerry or Nexus One will be able to view the most popular apps and download them from their phone.

Special links will be set up on the search engine to direct users to either the iPhone App Store or relevant destination for Android consumers.

Details on each of the apps could be mixed with reviews and advice, giving users the most comprehensive coverage of apps currently available prior to purchase.

The app store search feature is Google’s second major launch of the week, following the arrival of its updated Buzz instant messaging service.
