People who trade-in a mobile phone over the coming months will have the option of replacing it with Dell's first smartphone in the UK market.

Asavin Wattanajantra, writing for CNET UK, says he is expecting the Dell Venue Pro to be sold in the country.

Featuring a 4.1-inch touchscreen and running on the Windows Phone 7 operating system, which could become a rival of iPhone and Android, the phone may trigger a number of releases by the manufacturer.

The author notes other models such as the Smoke and the Thunder might also be relaunched, albeit under new names.

Although details such as price and availability are as yet unknown, Mr Wattanajantra goes on to explain the Venue Pro will use Gorilla Class, which he says should result in "unprecedented durability and scratch resistance".

Other companies to have announced they will offer devices that run on Windows Phone 7 include Orange, O2 and Three.
