Trading-in a mobile and upgrading to the Apple iPhone is one way for consumers to get their hands on Angry Birds, which has been named the Best App of 2010.

Adam, author of the latest Nokia Conversations blog, explains the title polled 31 per cent of the vote, beating the challenge of Nokia Panorama, which scored 13 per cent.

Gravity took the bronze medal position with 12.5 per cent of nominations, despite its £8 price tag, which the writer suggests proves apps do not have to be free to be great.

Other features to win the approval of the blog’s readers were Opera, Nimbuzz and SPB Shell.

The result “[proves] that firing small chirping creatures at fatter squealing ones makes great entertainment”, notes Adam, adding: “We can’t disagree there.”

Angry Birds has also been nominated for the title of Best Ever App, in which it will go up against nine other contenders later this month.
