People who love to eat at restaurants around the UK could benefit from trading in mobile phones and switching to a new device with internet access.

This would allow them to access the Livebookings website, where table reservations for a host of eateries can be made.

Colin Tenwick, chief executive officer of the portal, said there are some wonderful spots to eat out in the country.

However, the best of all is Covent Garden in London, which he admitted is the most popular, according to the firm's data.

"Restaurants in tourist hotspots and business hubs are often the most popular for people looking to eat out and are more likely to have a high density of diverse restaurants," Mr Tenwick stated.

Another technology now making life easier for mobile phone users is the contactless payment system, which Research in Motion recently announced is coming to the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Curve 9360 models imminently.
