One manufacturer has suggested its latest product will build on a number of recent multimedia-focused handsets.

It was advised this week that consumers could expect the Sony Ericsson X10 to be available in the early part of next year – which may prompt some to sell mobilephones to pay for one.

Following on from its X1 predecessor, company executive vice-president and chief creation officer Rikko Sakaguchi said the device would form part of the same philosophy that could be seen in its Aino and Satio models.

He explained all of these gadgets make communicating “fun and playful”, while offering a myriad of ways in which users can connect with one another.

Also this week, spokesman Ernest Doku said the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 could utilise Google Android to make the most of social networking.

“The notion of aggregating friend feeds, status updates and favoured media is currently popular within mobile, but none are as cleanly and intuitively presented as on the X10,” he said.
