The Sony Ericsson T715 is a sliding mobile phone that boasts a number of features and some "sophisticated" good looks, it has been claimed.

Announced by the manufacturer this week, the "ultra compact slider" is the latest phone to be added to the range and combines a number of messaging-focused options.

These include a large 2.2-inch screen that is designed to work well even when in direct sunlight and an oversized keypad and bigger font size to make texting, emailing and web browsing easier.

In addition, the 3G capabilities of the device may make it more suited to checking the web while out and about, but this does not mean it falters on design, company spokesman Quentin Cordier added.

"With a premium brushed aluminium cover and glossy front, this new mobile phone demonstrates the sophisticated design language consumers have come to expect from Sony Ericsson," he explained.

Other handsets in the current line up include the camera-focused Cyber-shot C905, Xperia X1 smartphone and W595 Walkman.
