Consumers looking for a newer greener handset – like the recently announced Sony Ericsson C901 Greenheart – have been advised on what to do with their old devices.

An article posted on the If It Prints, I’ll Let You Know blog this week looked at the importance of recycling mobile phones, printers and computing equipment when replacements have been purchased.

It explained although technology is now moving so fast that we seem to be continually updating our gadgets, it is essential to make sure the old items go to a proper home.

The piece went on to offer some useful advice for those who do decide to trade up to a new model.

“An important thing to remember […] when passing on gadgets is to clean out the memory and remove any personal data,” the site concluded.

The Sony Ericsson Greenheart C901 was unveiled earlier this month alongside the Naite device.
