The success of Angry Birds rolls on and on, perhaps tempting some consumers into selling their mobiles and investing in an iPhone in order to play the game.

Juniper Research reveals Rovio – the app's developer – has recently received $42 million (£26.1 million) in funding from Accel Partners and Atomico Ventures.

The news source notes this is a significant sum for a firm of Rovio's size, which could create the potential to advance the title further than ever before.

With more than 12 million downloads on the iPhone and 30 million via Android handsets, Angry Birds has established itself as one of the UK's favourite apps.

Indeed, its success is so great that it could inspire some people to make a mobile trade in just so they can hunt down the green pigs.

Earlier this month, reports suggested users could invest in the latest devices in order to play Tiny Wings, which was dubbed the new Angry Birds.
