People who sell a mobile in order to splash out on an Apple iPhone will find they have new technology at their fingertips.
That is because Qik – which was recently bought by Skype – has launched a new video calls app.
Qik Video Connect allows users to connect to friends and family via video calls, messages and shared clips.
This means people can record a short greeting for a loved one and send it to them or engage in live conversation.
For those who want to share their videos with others, links can be posted to Facebook and Twitter pages in order to let any contacts on the social networking portals watch.
Users who sign up will receive texts when any of their friends records a new video or is about to go live.
Apple is currently in the headlines for the release of the iPad 2, which will be launched in 25 countries tomorrow (March 25th).
