Samsung apparently has no intention of putting fingerprint technology in its upcoming mobile phones, despite rumours earlier this year that it would.

According to the Korea Herald, a Samsung official said the firm is “not yet developing the technology” for any of its handsets which would include the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5.

Whether or not this is linked with the fact that, Apple’s iPhone 5S has already been hacked through the fingerprint scanner, is unknown. However, Samsung still has a ten per cent stake in Pantech, which has introduced fingerprint scanners in some handsets, though it is thought to be severely lagging behind Apple’s technology.

There have been numerous concerns about privacy and security of fingerprint scanners, since the Apple iPhone 5S was launched last week.

It’s unclear whether Samsung, will implement the technology when it has better developed the feature, or if it isn’t interested in the innovation any more.
