Samsung will be eagerly awaiting the release of the Windows Phone 8 operating system as the firm has admitted it will be bringing out mobile phones with the platform.

With Windows Phone Tango making a fairly low-key entry into the market at the Mobile World Congress 2012, much of the focus is now on the future of Windows Phone 8 and when it will be released.

Head of product management at Samsung Matt Brum told Tech Radar the firm is still very much focusing on Windows and currently still has products in the pipeline in that area when the new software is available.

“[Windows Phone 8] is coming at the end of the year, and will increase the capability of the platform, and Samsung is looking to optimise its devices on that,” he continued.

Samsung is likely to be competing with Nokia to be the largest mobile phone vendor for the Windows Phone 8 operating system after the Finnish company was found to have been the largest Microsoft dealer in the fourth quarter of 2011.
