People who sell mobile phones in order to upgrade to a superior model could be increasingly choosing Samsung devices as their replacement.

Reuters has told how the brand is set to overtake Nokia as the world's largest smartphone producer in the next quarter, with Apple also making great strides.

Indeed, Nokia is expected to have fallen behind both of its rivals by the time the next three-month period comes to an end.

The Finnish company is said to have lost the initiative in the sector to Apple's iPhone and Google Inc's range of Android products.

"If Nokia's new phones are not well received in the third quarter and with the Galaxy S2 ramping up, Samsung might overtake them and become the smartphone leader in Q3," Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi told the news source.

Motorola could be another contender for the title of top mobile manufacturer, after it recently renewed its relationship with Sprint and promised new and innovative handsets.
