People who were shocked by the screen-size of the Samsung Galaxy S4 would have been practically bowled-over by the company announcement of a Mega mobile phone with its 6.3-inch screen.

The company originally announced a May release for UK customers, but that is looking more and more unlikely.

Carphone Warehouse has displayed the huge smartphone, with a July release date expected, although a specific day isn't recorded, according to the Inquirer.

The 1.7Ghz dual-core Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 was announced in April as a more mid-range device with Europe being its primary audience, at least initially.

It will also run the latest version of the Jelly Bean Android operating system and carry an eight megapixel camera, 4G LTE support and a mighty 3,200mAh battery.

Reasons for the delay are unknown, but the company's priorities may have shifted to ensure the success of the flagship Galaxy S4.

No pricing or network carriers have been confirmed but it seems safe to assume all the major networks will offer some sort of deal for the juggernaut device.
