New reports seem to indicate that Samsung could be preparing a mobile phone that runs Windows Phone 8, instead of its much favoured Android operating system.

Phone Arena spotted a device under the codename Samsung SM-W750V, which doesn't really give much away.

It spotted the handset's User Agent Profile on Samsung's website links "Windows Mobile Lab" with the Korean manufacturer and claims to bring a five-inch smartphone with 1920 x 1080 resolution.

This isn't the first time that Samsung has joined forces with Microsoft as it released the Samsung Ativ S, though the experiment seemed to have failed.

However, recently there were reports that Microsoft was slashing its licence costs to try and get more manufacturers to carry its operating system, which still lags behind Google's Android and Apple's iOS software.

There were also rumours that the Windows giant had offered Samsung a billion dollar-deal to try and persuade it to take on the third biggest operating system, in favour of its preferred Android option.
