A US judge has decided that the battle between Apple and Samsung over various mobile phone patents has gone too far and stopped the Cupertino-based firm from adding another device to its banned collection.

According to Bloomberg, Magistrate Judge Paul S Grewal has deemed that Samsung's Galaxy S4 won't be added to the 22 devices that infringe on Apple's patents.

The American judge said that adding another handset to the long list of off-limit products would be a "tax on the court's resources".

He said in his final ruling: "Each time these parties appear in the courtroom, they consume considerable amounts of the court's time and energy, which takes time away from other parties who also require and are entitled to the court's attention."

It is likely that this won't be the end of the Samsung-Apple feud though as indications have already emerged that the latter will file another lawsuit.
