Samsung has announced it will be unveiling a new Galaxy device in London at the beginning of next month, sparking rumours it could be the successor to the SII.

The company has refused, however, to confirm whether the announcement – at London's Earls Court – relates to the much anticipated forthcoming mobile phone or to a range of new handsets.

This will be the closest Google's Android operating system comes to an event on the scale of an Apple launch.

Last month the firm moved to play down rumours that it would be launching the SIII at a panned media event in Paris on March 22nd, stating it would be unveiled in the "first half of the year".

The invitation for the event reads simply "Come and meet the next Galaxy" and reveals details of the location of the next Samsung Unpacked event.

However, Samsung did not unveil a single product at its most recent unpacked event.
