A record-breaking 17.4 million Apple iOS and Android mobile phones were activated on Christmas Day, as lucky gift recipients were eager to use their new gadgets.
The American manufacturer's latest handset, the iPhone 5, was high on many wish lists, as were popular devices like the Samsung Galaxy S3.
Users were seemingly eager to use their new mobile, going through the set-up process on the day rather than leaving it boxed under the tree.
New owners perhaps used their phone to text loved ones and wish them a merry Christmas, snap pictures with the camera and update their Facebook status.
Estimated figures from Flurry also indicate that these gift recipients were keen to widen the capabilities of their handset by accessing virtual application shops.
A record-breaking 328 million tools and games were installed around the world on December 25th, and British gadget lovers downloaded a significant 132 million during the week to New Year's Day.
