Mobile recycling could be one option worth considering for UK consumers to receive money to put towards an upgrade to a new handset, following a recent announcement.

Users of handsets such as the iPhone, BlackBerry and a range of Nokia mobiles could be set to benefit from the news that mobile streaming video startup Qik has sealed a significant distribution deal in the UK.

Customers in the UK with a Vodafone handset could enjoy the capability to record and share videos from their mobile phone using the programme.

Videos created using Qik can be quickly and easily posted to websites such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

Those who wish to make use of the service can do so by sending a free text to 97886 stating ‘Qik’.

Video messages can also be sent privately via SMS and email and videos can be uploaded to blogging sites like WordPress, Tumblr and Blogger.

Mobile operator Vodafone recently revealed that it plans to launch two ultra low-cost mobile phones in the developing markets of India and Africa.
