Consumers can now pre-order two of the most sought-after upcoming handsets, so some may like to plan to trade in their used phones now in order to fund a purchase.

Stuart Dredge, writing for CNET UK, explains is now taking reservations for the LG Optimus 3D and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

The former is the first 3D mobile on the market and retails for £514.99, while the latter – which is based on the design of the Sony PlayStation – is available for £519.99.

Mr Dredge, commenting on the Xperia Play, says: “The phone’s big selling point is that it’s the first PlayStation Certified smart phone, capable of running vintage PSOne games and newer titles made for Sony Ericsson by its network of mobile developers.”

However, those who pre-order with the website should note it is only stocking the black model.

Graham McAllister, director at Vertical Slice, recently noted the Xperia Play is a device that provides a bridge between gaming and mobile phones.
