A new handset from Nokia that could be purchased using funds received from recycling mobile phones is due out this month.

According to the manufacturer, the Nokia N97 is a crucial step in the company’s aim to deliver a personalised web experience.

The gadget features a fully customisable home screen with various widgets that can link to social networking sites, news pages and more.

It also comes equipped with applications, games and entertainment available via the Ovi Store, which offers paid and free products.

"The Nokia N97 transforms the internet into an experience that’s completely tailored to the tastes and interests of its owner," remarked vice-president and head of Nokia NSeries Jonas Geust.

Features and extras are set to be made available later this year for those who want to upgrade their N97, which has 32 gigabytes of storage space.

Of course, those who have recycled their phone and are looking for a different model might want to check out the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.

It enables users to listen to their favourite tunes on a handset equipped with a bass booster, audio visualisation and stereo widening, among other technical additions.
