There are reasons to be excited about what the future has in store for those who trade in mobiles in order to switch to one of the top-of-the-range devices.

Michael Woolstrum, chief executive officer of Touch International, explained that touchscreens are set to advance rapidly over the years to come.

He said that the number of applications that can be developed to work with touchscreens is "virtually endless", providing more anticipation for what lies in store.

"The touch industry follows the display market closely, so 3D and flexible touchscreens are most certainly in our future," Mr Woolstrum stated.

He went on to note that manufacturers have already identified new trends that are sure to grow – curved touchscreens and 3D displays.

Earlier this week, the same expert predicted the touchscreen industry is set to grow over the coming years, with DisplaySearch noting there will be a 90 per cent expansion this year.
