Two months after many people may have considered recycling their mobile phone in order to take advantage of the new Ice Cream Sandwich Android update, people are still waiting for it to appear on their devices.

Data on Android's developer site suggest that just 0.6 per cent of Android devices currently have the upgrade. The figures also show that the tablet OS, Honeycomb, only accounts for 3.3 per cent of devices.

The Froyo update, which has been out for 20 months, is still only available to 30.4 per cent of devices. The company's most used update is the Gingerbread 2.3 – 2.3.7, which is available to 55.5 per cent of consumers.

Recent figures released have shown that iPad tablet app downloads are by far and away the market leader having reached three billion in less than a-year-and-a-half, while Android tablets have only had 440 million downloads so far.
