People who could benefit from using a Microsoft Word-style tool on the go might be wise to take cash for their phones and switch to the Apple iPhone in order to snap up a new app.

The computer firm has confirmed the OneNote app is now available – initially free of charge – and will allow users to access various documents.

Microsoft’s SkyDrive cloud technology will be in operation to ensure notes can be stored and then used from one of Apple’s revolutionary devices.

However, it is worth noting that OneNote will only work on models with the iOS 4.2 operating system or a newer version.

It is a far from basic application, with far more to it than simply plain documents and standard text – indeed, bullet points, different fonts and checklists are all available.

Currently, the latest Apple mobile is the iPhone 4, although rumours persist that the company is planning to release the fifth edition of the range later this year.
