Nokia's executive vice president of sales and marketing Chris Weber has warned Samsung of the arrival of a new rival soon.

He claimed that a next generation Lumia would be coming soon and his tweet implies that Mr Weber believes the new mobile phone will competitive in the market.

The launch of the Lumia 900 earlier this year was supposed to bring some of the market share back that Nokia has lost in the last 12 months.

However, its release was delayed after the makers found a software bug in the device.

Mr Weber said on his Twitter account: "Samsung take note, next generation Lumia coming soon. #nokia".

This comes after the chief executive Stephen Elop stated that a Windows Phone 8 device would be released in the "relatively near term".

Elop's assertion sparked rumours that Nokia is set to release its latest smartphone before Apple brings out the latest iPhone 5.
