Consumers recycling mobile phones to buy a Nokia N97 may be interested in one application’s latest record.

According to GetJar, an online resource for downloadable handset software, Opera Mini is now the most accessed product on any such web-based store.

The company announced this week that the mobile internet browsing application has been obtained by over 25 million users, a figure which makes it the most popular available.

Opera Software’s chief strategy officer Rolf Assev said the firm had built a healthy relationship with GetJar that formed part of Mini’s overall success.

"It proves that our vision of providing a browser that works on almost all phones will give millions a better way to access the web," he added.

Opera published a report this week that said its mobile users accessed over 12 billion pages in July.

Company chief executive Jon von Tetzchner said it was proof the system was being adopted by people with all kinds of devices.
