Football fanatics could upgrade their mobile phone in order to get involved in three new apps which have been designed to satisfy soccer-mad consumers.

Juan Carlos Anez from the official Nokia blog suggested that Real Football 2010 should keep smartphone users occupied until the World Cup kicks off on Friday (June 11th), using touchscreen technology to offer friendly matches and penalty shoot-outs.

Nokia Goal is another app which offers enough information to keep any football aficionado happy, including statistics and fixtures for European tournaments and Latin American league games.

For those looking for the latest news on the South Africa competition, however, the AP 2010 World Cup app has been recommended, providing team profiles, images, videos and the most up-to-date information.

Coinciding with the launch of the latter app, Nokia recently announced the release of the Al Jazeera news application, which allows users to watch live feeds of the Middle East news channel.
