Nokia has asked the question of whether a mobile phone can ever be thin enough for the desires of consumers.

Writing on the Nokia Conversations website, JCB said over the past five years mobile phones have come a long way in terms of their thickness.

The advancement of nanotechnology means that a time will come when consumers will not think their mobile phone is too thick.

Moving on to the debate about what is the perfect screen size, Nokia Conversations said a study it is conducting has revealed that four inches is seen as ideal for a modern handset.

"Given that borderless displays are still someway off for mobile devices, 50mm is looking ambitious, even for our concept," the author explained.

A previous discussion on the forum asked the question of how the mobile phone industry can become more environmentally friendly.

Readers were asked whether Nokia should focus on recycling, energy consumption or packaging.
