According to an expert in the sector, it is set to be a more affordable option than some smartphones currently on the market, such as the Apple iPhone.
Neil McHugh is sales and marketing director at Right Mobile Phone and said because the Nokia 5230 combines social media and entertainment, it is best targeted at the "late-teen Facebook generation".
And while the features are not exactly groundbreaking, they offer functionality and are likely to satisfy users, he added. The 5230 also comes with a music player with which hours of favourite playlists and songs can be enjoyed.
"The iPhone is an expensive option for this particular target market – the Xpress Music devices from Nokia are more prominent and affordable," Mr McHugh remarked.
According to a recent report by Gartner, a research and advisory company, Samsung is expected to close the market share gap with Nokia towards the end of this year.
