The latest phone to be announced by Samsung is a new take on an older model, it has emerged.

It was announced this week that the company will launch the Tocco Lite next month, which it hopes will appeal to those looking for an easy-to-use multimedia-focused handset.

The new device is not the first time the Tocco name has been used. The original model was launched in 2008 and was followed up earlier this year with an Ultra Edition version – making this one the third in the series.

In addition to a three-inch WQVGA touchscreen with integrated user interface, the Tocco Lite will incorporate music recognition software and DNSe 2.0 Digital Natural Sound engine.

Mark Mitchinson, vice-president of Samsung Mobile in the UK and Ireland, said the device would build on its predecessors.

"The incredible success of the Samsung Tocco handset last year has paved the way for this latest addition to the Tocco family," he added.
