Samsung has launched a rugged new mobile phone that is short on features but big on battery, a new article comments.

In an article for the Trusted Reviews website, Sandra Vogel explains the B2700 Bound is a device that lacks the kind of high-tech gadgets that are found on most modern phones.

However, she comments its tough, rubberised exterior and "astounding" battery life mean it could be an ideal companion for those who like to engage in outdoor pursuits.

"I reckon you could rely on the Bound for two or three days of usage without mains power – which is extremely important if you are going to be backpacking in the wilds," Ms Vogel explains.

The model – which is a follow up to the equally bare bones SGH-M110 Solid – is equipped with an altimeter, compass, pedometer, two-megapixel camera, microSD slot and 3G connectivity.

Trusted Reviews tested the B2700 Bound’s predecessor and found it offered 15 days worth of battery life on standby.
