New images have surfaced which appear to show the first glimpse of the iPhone 5 and those who wanted a bigger screen may have had their desires fulfilled.

The launch of a new iPhone is always a big event in the mobile phone world, with many people recycling their old phones to fund the purchase of the latest Apple handset and this time will be no different.

Established Apple website 9to5Mac revealed a leaked image of what is claimed to be the iPhone 5. The source has a good track record of reporting accurate leaks from Apple and supplemented the pics with some more details about the new model.

The new screen is estimated to be just short of four inches, with a resolution of 1136×640 – following in the Retina footsteps of the latest iPad.

These images come two weeks after Apple registered the domain name and just a few days after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3.
