A number of the consumers who rushed out to get their hands on the new iPad last Friday (March 16th) have already made complaints that the device gets too hot.

The handset was so popular that Apple stores in a number of different countries reported they had run of out stock even before it was officially released due to the number of pre-orders.

However, consumers have taken to forums to complain that the device is prone to getting too hot in the lower-left corner, when held in portrait with the home button at the bottom, CNET reports.

The operating temperature range is listed on the new iPad's specification page as between 32 and 95 degrees F but some have reported higher levels.

"Mine is a 64GB with Wi-Fi and LTE – LTE not hooked up yet – and it got hot enough that I measured it with an infrared thermometer and it was 117 degrees after ten minutes," one observer noted.
