People who recycle mobile phones in favour of switching to a tablet over the coming months will be able to consider a new offering from HTC, if one source is correct.

Reports have suggested the HTC Puccini will be released by the technology brand in either the third or fourth quarter of 2011.

Chief financial officer at HTC Winston Yung appears to have vindicated the claims, meaning fans of the brand can prepare themselves for its latest launch.

HTC’s significant growth in China – it has enjoyed a four-fold rise in sales this year – could be helping to fund such rapid and hi-tech progression.

Featuring a ten-inch screen, the model is set to rival the likes of the Apple iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the BlackBerry PlayBook and the Motorola Xoom.

ABI Research recently reported that Android tablets are becoming more popular, having taken 20 per cent of the market share from the iPad in the last year.
