One of Nokia‘s latest phones is to feature special edition content that may excite fans of Star Trek.

Timed to coincide with the new film on May 8th – a reboot of the franchise directed by the creator of Lost and Fringe, JJ Abrams – the Finnish manufacturer is to release an updated version of its 5800 XpressMusic.

It is expected that users signing up to the latest contracts from Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and O2 will be able to get their hands on a limited edition Star Trek model.

The Trekkie version of the 5800 will feature a number of pre-loaded screen savers and wallpapers, as well as eight different intergalactic ring tones and a phaser application.

According to reports, the phone could hit stores on May 1st and according to I4U News is reflective of a growing trend in the industry to tie movies in with the latest devices.

Last year, the phone itself featured in Christopher Nolan’s second Batman film, The Dark Knight.
