Google Android is the most dominant operating system (OS) in the world with so many mobile phone manufacturers powering their devices with the OS.
It has almost become synonymous with its many updates that are all named after sweet foods such as Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean.
However, this chopping and changing of OS updates is having a detrimental effect on developers, according to managing director of MagicSoftware.com David Akka.
Many developers are finding it too time-consuming and difficult to update their software as often as Android is bringing out the new OSs.
Mr Akka believes that Android may have run its course with developers as they are increasingly looking towards the iOS model for their services.
“But the multiple flavours of Android and the progression of each version has changed this. So I think it’s got a big problem. Gingerbread has [the biggest share of] developers,” he continued.
