Anyone hoping to buy an affordable and compact smartphone in the months ahead now has a new option open to them, with the news that Motorola has released its newest model to fulfil this role.
The Moto X4 has been revealed at the latest IFA Conference in Berlin – one of the world's leading trade shows for consumer electronics. It is aimed at mid-market smartphone users, and will be available in the UK from the end of September.
Features of the product include a compact 5.2-inch touchscreen, which the manufacturer states makes the X4 easier to use with just one hand, as well as three in-built cameras – a 12-megapixel sensor and 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor for perfect front images, in addition to a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The manufacturer's new Landmark Detection system also allows the X4 to offer a range of tools to enhance functionality and picture taking, from improved face recognition through to scanning business cards and creating animated selfies.
In its latest press release for the new Moto X4, Motorola also said: “Experience Amazon Alexa integrated right into Moto X – without even having to unlock it first.
“Now, whether you're in a hotel, a friend's house or simply out and about, the features and benefits of Alexa are always with you.”
Alexa enables users to control their phone using the in-built smart assistant. This opens up a range of features to enable voice-activated hands-free options for easier use.
Motorola states that the X4's 3,000mAh battery can be charged in as little as 15 mins and from this can deliver a battery life for six hours of use. Other features include the phone's durable dust- and water-resistant outer shell, designed to ensure it is less likely to get damaged in the hustle and bustle of daily use.
The new model will be available for purchase from The Carphone Warehouse and Motorola.co.uk from the end of the month. It is priced at £349.
