Shoppers looking to sell mobilephones to get a Google Android-based device may welcome the latest announcement from one operator.

Orange announced this week that it would be bringing the recently announced Motorola DEXT to the UK on a network-exclusive basis.

In addition to the Android operating system, the carrier explained that users may also be impressed with the manufacturer’s latest user interface technology – MOTOBLUR.

Known in the US as the CLIQ, the DEXT will be the first handset in the Motorola range to boast the software, which is designed to bring together features like social networking, email and contact details.

Francois Mahieu, director of devices at Orange UK, said: “The device builds on our commitment to bring the latest innovative multimedia handsets to market and fits perfectly with our existing portfolio of products and services.”

Motorola’s DEXT will be available free on two-year contracts with a £34.26 monthly tariff. Users will get 900 any-network calls, as well as unlimited web and text usage included in this.

Other recent Orange exclusives have included the Toshiba TG01.
