Recycling a mobile phone is one of the more obvious ways to adhere to green policies when it comes to technology.

And now another may have emerged – replacing a reused handset with one from Nokia's extensive range.

Such a possibility is the result of the Finnish brand securing the title of world's most sustainable technology company for the second successive year.

Named as the winner in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes 2010, the company is said to excel in areas such as environmental policy, labour practices and standards for suppliers.

Timo Ihamuotila, executive vice-president and chief financial officer at Nokia, says: "The second consecutive number one slot across the entire global technology industry is a great recognition of the continued and strong commitment by Nokia employees to sustainable business practices."

Following the recycling of a mobile phone, green-thinking buyers may wish to invest in the firm's new 5250 model or the upcoming N8.
