UK mobile phone networks have recently revealed their tariffs for the Apple iPad and it is likely to prove a hit, it has been suggested.

This is despite recent reports such as one published in the Times stating that British users of the device will have to pay approximately £100 more than people in the US.

Despite this, the device is expected to sell well.

“Gadget fans in the UK almost always seem to be stung by higher prices, although at times it’s simply because they haven’t factored in US sales tax or VAT on this side of the pond,” said James Holland, editor at

Apple’s successful iPhone has secured the software giant a loyal fanbase that should ensure sales are not hurt by the higher price tag, he added.

An Apple spokesperson told the Times that factors including currency exchange rates, local import laws, business practices, taxes and the cost of doing business influences influenced the price.
