Smart mobile phone users in the UK and US are seeking larger screen displays than what they are currently being offered by their current device, research has shown.
The Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Lab report entitled Smartphone Owners Want Thin Devices with Larger Displays found that respondents prefer device screens in the 4-inch to 4.5-inch range as long as it remains thin.
Smartphone devices have seen a meteoric rise in popularity in recent months, with Ofcom recently announcing that just under half of the UK’s teenagers now own one.
Director in the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice Paul Brown said almost 90 per cent of smartphone owners surveyed chose a prototype device with a larger display than their current handset.
Vice president for the User Experience Practice at the firm Kevin Nolan added: “In order for smartphone owners to adopt larger devices, it is important for handset manufacturers to ensure that mobile devices are not too heavy.”
