Music fans with one of the latest state-of-the-art mobile phones on the market can now enjoy the benefits of the NME app.

The magazine's website confirms it has launched the feature for users of the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch.

Among the highlights for many users is sure to be a regular supply of news, interviews and videos from a range of top bands and artists.

But arguably the greatest feature of the app could turn out to be the band-tagging service, where users can identify acts they would like to receive automatic alerts about when any breaking news occurs.

And the app's offline functionality means iPhone and iPod Touch owners do not need a signal in order to access content.

The iPod 4 is the newest of all the smartphone models in the Apple range, having been released in the UK and four other countries on June 24th.
